If you cannot use TSDR to retrieve status information online, you may call the Trademark Support Center (“TAC”) at (571) 272-9250 or (800) 786-9199 and request a status check. TAC is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, except holidays. Written requests for status are not recommended as they may delay processing. The search for conflicting marks before filing an application is called an exemption search. The nearest Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) manages local search resources and can provide training on patent search techniques. The Patent Examination Data System (PEDS) on Amazon Cloud provides public users with the ability to securely search, view, and download bibliographic data for all publicly available patent applications. The solution allows public users to browse and download bibliographic data in bulk, as well as manage the volume of data that can be uploaded by a particular user at any given time.
You can search the USPTO database for free online at the Public Search Facility (Madison East, 1st floor; 600 Dulany Street, Alexandria, Virginia) between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. USPTO employees are not permitted to conduct trademark searches for the public. Use Assignments on the Web (AOTW) to search the database of all registered trademark assignment information from 1955 to the present (assignments of trademarks registered before 1955 are held by the National Archives and Records Administration). The Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) system provides USPTO customers with a secure way to retrieve and download patent application status information. Private PAIR provides secure, real-time access to the status and history of pending requests with a registered USPTO.gov account. XML – The XML upload feature is available in Private PAIR and allows the user to download bibliographic data in XML format. Bibliographic XML data can be downloaded either for a specific application or for multiple applications whose status has changed in the last 6 months.
