Siu Transfer Requirements

Siu Transfer Requirements

The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities should clarify which students are suspended for reasons other than academic failure before the Director of Admissions grants admission. Transfer students with less than twelve hours of transferable credit and at least 2.0/4.0 GPA transfer must submit the evidence required for first-year admission and will be examined holistically to determine possible admission. We welcome transfer students at all stages of their academic career. Students come from a community college, other Illinois universities, neighboring states, and even other countries. The college will review your academic profile to ensure you are qualified. For applicants who do not meet the academic requirements, the chances of admission decrease significantly, regardless of their strength elsewhere. More information on the application of transfer work to meet the requirements of the University Core Program can be found in the University Core Program section. Transfer credits for students admitted to the university are assessed by articulation and assessment (a department of the Office of the Registrar) for acceptance against the requirements of the university`s core program. Loans from a regionally accredited institution and candidates for credit, or from an institution whose credit is accepted by the reporting state institution, are assessed at the time of admission. Remedial, advanced or pre-college courses will not be accepted for transfer. Articulation and evaluation determine the acceptance of loans and their applicability to the requirements of the university`s core curriculum. All credits accepted for transfer that are not applied to the University`s core program requirements or to a specific program of study are considered general transfer points (elective credits).

Transfer courses to be considered for specific program requirements will be approved by the school that manages the program. Information on the articulation of each school can be found at: articulation.siu.edu. Southern Illinois University School of Medicine occasionally accepts transfers from other allopathic medical schools approved by LCME. Transfer requests will only be considered in the event of a vacancy in the class due to the fluctuation of our students. Transfers are not accepted until the fourth year. To be considered for a transfer, you must meet the following requirements: * Contact the Department of Art and Design at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester at [email protected], 618-650-3183 or 618-650-3073 to check your transfer references and confirm placement. Saluki Transfer Pathways is the university`s dual admission program that allows eligible community college students who intend to move to the SIU to receive early admission and preschool counseling for a high school diploma program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Saluki Transfer Pathways allows students to be conditionally admitted to SIU Carbondale up to two years prior to their scheduled transfer period, giving them access to the university`s final examination system and transfer credit assessment. These students will also receive an individual transfer plan that meets specific program requirements that a student may not automatically meet by completing their associate degree. Saluki Transfer Pathways also offers personal contacts with SIU representatives. Students participating in Saluki Transfer Pathways are eligible to participate in a dual enrollment option to connect them with campus and other transferred students.

Students apply for Saluki Transfer Pathways by completing the Undergraduate Application and expressing interest in Saluki Transfer Pathways and completing the Supplementary Information Form. Students must have at least two semesters remaining at their community college to attend, select an eligible SIU major, and attend an eligible community college. Information on degree programs and participating community colleges is available online at admissions.siu.edu/stp. Transfer students who have completed at least one year of work at the college level may be considered for admission prior to enrollment. Students who are enrolled in a college program for the first time and wish to change after completing the first semester or year may do so if they meet the university`s admission requirements for first-year students. Admission granted to a student on the basis of partial or incomplete records is granted on condition that the student has an overall average of C and is entitled to continue in the last school at the time of enrolment. Students whose degrees have an average grade or a level of education below that required for unconditional admission may have their admission and enrolment revoked or their educational status changed. Transfer students admitted due to incomplete transcripts must submit complete transcripts before they can enrol in a second semester at the SIU.

If you believe your situation meets all of the above criteria, please send a letter detailing the reasons for requesting a transfer to: Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in a bachelor`s degree (AA or AS) at an accredited two-year public institution in Illinois; Completion of an A.A. from a two-year accredited public school in Missouri participating in CORE 42 or General Education Complete; or obtaining an A.A. or A.S. by a Kentucky Community and Technical College System Institution provides that the student: (a) be accepted with junior status if enrollment occurs after graduation from associate degree before courses are attempted at another institution, and (b) completed are considered the requirements of the University`s core program for general degree purposes. These credits do not automatically apply to other associate degrees (e.g. A.A.S., A.E.S., A.G.S., A.F.A.). Associate degrees earned at two-year institutions outside the state are reviewed by Articulation and Evaluation. If it is determined that the degree is focused on the bachelor`s degree and has comparable content and credit hour criteria, the same achievements are extended to those graduates. Transfer students can also meet the requirements of the University`s core program by successfully completing the Illinois Transferable General Education (GECC) core program. Credit from a two-year accredited institution is limited only by the requirement that students earn at least 42 hours of credit of upper-level work (300-400) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale or any other approved four-year institution and must meet residency requirements for a degree from the university.

The SIU has a reputation for working with veterans and military students to succeed in education, as well as providing an excellent support system for non-traditional students and their families. You are on a unique journey. The SIU is here to guide you to your destination. Electronic transcripts can be submitted through various electronic transcription services and can also be sent directly from the institution to [email protected]. Transcripts received from a student through this account are not considered official. You can use it as a basis for creating school lists, improving your profile, and developing app strategies. You need to make sure your SAT score is equal to or higher than the average score. However, when you compromise on what needs to be improved, remember that SAT scores are important but carry less weight than GPA and courses. *The start of classes varies for the summer semester. Please ensure that the courses you wish to take have not already started before applying.

In order to ensure admission and access to the required technologies, all admission documents must be received two weeks prior to the start of the course.
